Just How Does This Work? Our group meets weekly at a local coffee house. We catch up on each other's lives - there's always lots of laughter - and we record in our journals any praise reports as well as new or continued prayer requests. Our credo is to only take requests pertaining to the individual members of the group. We all could bring many outside needs to the table, but the focus of SipSisters is prayer for your group's members only. As each woman is lifted up in prayer daily, she will be strengthened to better pray for and minister to those in her circle. Having this kind of individual focus on a daily basis around the world will change lives and empower each of us to walk in the light of the will of God. Be lifted up, lift up others, go in strength through the power of prayer. God bless you! How You Can Get Started: Collect 7 women or less if you can’t find 6 plus yourself, and meet 2-4 times a month at the place of your choice. (We meet at a coffeehouse, thus the name “sip”, although I like to think of it as Sisters in Intercessory Prayer). Chat and enjoy catching up, but before anyone leaves, write in your journals how you can best pray for each member. This is also a good time to write down praise reports to remind yourself that God is at work. We don’t pray during our meeting times, but we each commit to pray for each group member every day. The length of the meeting time is variable and completely up to you ~ some will come and stay only a little while and others will linger. Christian values and the ability to keep confidences are important traits for all members. Nothing shared should go outside your meeting and journals should be kept private. Our group likes to purchase new, pretty china mugs each season of the year. We began during the holidays, so our first mugs had a border of holly leaves. Our springtime cups were floral and so on. One of the gals made beautiful bookmarks for each of us with all six names and phone numbers listed on them. During our daily devotions at home we each use our special mugs for our coffee or tea. These cups would serve as reminders to pray for each Sip Sister individually, according to their needs. Every time I empty my dishwasher or open my cupboard and see those cups or see my bookmark in my Bible or journal I am reminded to pray for my Sip Sisters. So, don’t waste another day. Gather your group, be undergirded and strengthened while growing closer to your Sisters-in-Christ. You will be blessed and amazed at the difference in your life! What You Will Need: Collect:
7 China Mugs 7 Journals 7 Pens 7 Bookmarks 1 Place to meet 7 Praying hearts option of each person getting their own items or choosing someone in your group to take care of purchasing matching or similar items. Who Can Join? Anyone you feel would be a cohesive member in your group should be accepted. If someone isn't necessarily a "prayer warrior" or church-going person, but is open and willing to pray - how beautiful! Anyone praying on a regular basis is going to see God at work - they can only grow in their walk through praying and will certainly benefit from all the prayers on their behalf. Come one, come all! Prayer Pointers Common Statement: "I don't know how to pray or what to say". The most simple, common words are all that's needed. The heart of the matter is all God cares about. A basic prayer asking the Lord to bless, protect or sustain each group member for that day is perfect. Maybe you know that someone in your group needs the peace of God in their life, or an extra dose of joy or hope...ask for it for them Praying God's will or parameters into a person's life so that they can become the woman God intended them to be covers a lot of bases. We don't always need to pray for their specific foibles, just that they become moldable to His best interests for them. I find that there is incredible power in praising God - for who He is, for all He's done.Try praying the Psalms and feel your heart swell with joy at the magnitude of God's presence in our lives. Try it, you'll like it. God bless you and yours, Jan |
